MASTERING BUSINESS COMMUNICATION IN ENGLISH. DIALOGUES IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Abstract (English):
This course is designed for university students of international trade, business, international collaboration in environmental protection and other economic areas. It is aimed at preparing students for efficient interaction with foreign partners in solving professional tasks with the use of different rhetorical strategies (persuasion, clarifying, defending your position, establishing rapport, etc.). The course structure comprises: Part 1 Consecutive Interpretation; Part 2 Business Dialogic Communication; Supplements. Part 1 includes numerous dialogues with alternating English and Russian phrases, which helps build up students’ consecutive interpretation skills. Part 2 suggests Russian descriptions of the simulated professional situations and the participants’ communication steps, with the task for students being to choose the appropriate English wording for rendering the said situations. This way future specialists learn to harmonize their professional and communicative competences and enhance their rhetorical efficiency in professional situations. The topics are: Enquiries, Offers and Orders, Banking and Payments, Claims and Complaints, Export and Import Contracts, Environmental Issues, etc.
