This textbook develops basic Urdu language skills, including mastering the Arabic-Persian script of Urdu, developing basic writing, reading and speaking skills, and expanding Urdu language vocabulary. This is the first Russian-language edition in which the learning process is based on a comparison of Urdu and Hindi vocabulary. The texts are designed for students already familiar with the basics of Hindi language and allow them to focus on the key differences between the two languages.

The aim of the Textbook is to familiarize students – non-regional studies specialists – with various aspects of social life, history, culture and religion of Iran through the language. The volume of introduced vocabulary is about 900 units, including the vocabulary of texts and exercises. The source for the selection of texts were Iranian textbooks, guidebooks, the press, Internet resources. When compiling the dictionaries, Persian-Russian and Russian-Persian dictionaries were used, as well as explanatory dictionaries of the Persian language published in Iran. Each lesson provides grammar material. At the end of the textbook there is a consolidated Persian-Russian dictionary. The textbook is designed for students who have mastered the basic course of the Persian language. Upon completion of the course, in addition to the necessary linguistic and cultural knowledge, the student acquires the competencies of working with journalistic texts, as well as with texts of a socio-political nature, and moves from the intermediate level of proficiency in the Persian language to the advanced level.
